THE HOUSE

This is what we’re building.

Sunlight of the Spirit will be a women’s sober living house in Toronto — a structured, supportive home for women in early recovery who need more time, more support, and a real community before stepping back into independent life.

We are currently in our fundraising phase. Every dollar donated brings us closer to opening our doors.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Living at Sunlight of the Spirit means more than having a roof over your head. It means being part of a community with structure, accountability, and genuine support built into every day.

A safe, women-only environment Our house is exclusively for women. That is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of everything we do. Women heal differently, and they deserve a space designed with that in mind.

Structure that supports recovery Early recovery is hard. Structure helps. Residents will have clear expectations, house guidelines, and a daily rhythm that supports sobriety without feeling institutional.

Community accountability House meetings, peer support, and shared experience are core to life at Sunlight of the Spirit. You will not be doing this alone — and you will not be allowed to disappear into yourself either.

Access to programming Residents will have access to on-site and community programming designed to support the whole person — not just their sobriety.

WHO THE HOUSE IS FOR

Sunlight of the Spirit is designed for women who:

  • Have completed or are transitioning out of a treatment program
  • Are committed to 12-step recovery
  • Are ready to live in a structured, sober community
  • Want support rebuilding their lives alongside women who understand

We are not a detox facility or a treatment centre. We are the next step — the bridge between treatment and independent living.

PROGRAMMING

We believe sobriety is the foundation — not the finish line. Our programming is built around the whole person, not just the addiction.

12-Step Recovery Support Meetings, sponsorship, and peer accountability are woven into daily life. Residents are supported in working a program and building a recovery community outside the house.

Building Your Life Practical programming for the real world:

  • Financial literacy and budgeting
  • Nutrition and meal planning
  • Job searching, resume writing, and interview preparation
  • Navigating housing, banking, and community systems

Community and Connection Group programming, house meetings, and shared experience. Recovery happens in relationship — and we build that into everything.

Spiritual Wellness Grounded in 12-step tradition, we support each woman in developing her own understanding of spirituality as part of a sustainable, lasting recovery.

WHAT A DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE

This reflects our vision for daily life at Sunlight of the Spirit once we are open.

Morning Wake up, breakfast together, morning reflection or meditation. The day starts with intention.

Daytime Programming, employment, job searching, or volunteer commitments. Residents are expected to be engaged in their recovery and their future during the day.

Evening 12-step meetings — in-house or in the community. Dinner together. House meeting once a week. Time for connection, reflection, and rest.

Throughout Access to staff and peer support. Clear house guidelines. A community of women who are all working toward the same thing.

THE GAP WE ARE CLOSING

Toronto has treatment. Toronto has long-term recovery housing. What is missing is the middle — a safe, affordable, women-focused option for the earliest and most vulnerable stage of recovery.

That is exactly where Sunlight of the Spirit lives.
